Bolivar Wedding: Blake + Abby

It all started in a band. The high school band, that is. He played the trombone and she the french horn. She sat behind him on the bleachers and in between songs, they would look at each other. You know, the way you look at someone when you are head over heels for them. And that's where it started... with heels and stolen glances.

Abby and Blake are fun to watch... maybe it's how real they are with each other or maybe it's because they make you feel like you belong. Or maybe it's because their joy is contagious... Abby and Blake, I love you both and I am so thankful that I had the honor of sharing in your big day!

Bolivar Senior: Darcy Lin

Lin is her middle name. And she isn't afraid to let you know (facebook official guys, facebook official). Let me tell you something else about Darcy... she is one of the most genuine and joyful people I have ever met. You can read about her favorite things to do on her senior website (CLICK HERE).

I had the honor of getting to know Darcy through the youth group at Church (oh and she thinks my sister is cool... holla!). If something needed doing, Darcy's your girl. If you needed honest feedback, Darcy's your girl. And if you just want to have a good time with friends and laugh a lot... Darcy is a pro at that. && Just to answer the question I know you are asking yourself, yes she is awesome.

Darcy, you are gorgeous.

love it girl!!

photos for missions

We walked up to the three little girls who had accepted Christ the day before. Their challenge was to go into their school and share what Christ had done for them and as I started to speak, they began to yell excitedly in Spanish. Eli, our translator and dear friend, said that they wanted to hear more stories about Jesus. So they called out to the kids around them and told them to hurry and come listen to the Good News.

And so they did. And one little boy to my right looked up at me with his big brown eyes and asked "Missionary, should we love God?"

Even now his question makes me smile (and also tear up a bit) because I want that little boy to love God with all that he is. And I want that little boy to know the full life that comes with being a child of the King.

Jaelyn and I will be headed to El Salvador this August to visit friends and an orphanage or two. And most importantly because we want to tell children what He has done for them... so that they can know what it is like to love and be loved by God...

crazy songs {and dance moves}

On Monday night, Isaac declared that we were going on a date. Because he is like that...all adventurous and loving and thoughtful. The big plan was to eat dinner and see The Avengers...again. Because we both love looooooooooooove that movie. But we ended up talking to each other about life and goals and dreams. And then I sang a song I made up as we were driving home... && trust me, you weren't missing anything. :)

Sometimes we sing crazy songs and do crazy dance moves while we drive. Other times we tell stories to each other and push each other to dream... bigger. But whatever it is that we are doing and wherever it is that we are going, I know that I love being with him. And I am beyond thankful that I have him in my life.

Go enjoy the people in your life today. :) And check out this awesome new page on my website: CLICK HERE!

Happy Wednesday :)

Monday Matters: Jenna Renae

I opened my windows this morning to let the cool air flow through my house and I listened to the birds singing from the trees. I sipped on my frappe and read as the silence surrounded me... "And He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me." - 2 Corinthians 12:9

My mother-in-law prayed this verse for me as I was preparing for El Salvador. And God has spoken to me through this verse in ways that I can't really describe. Because there are so many times that I think my weakness is too much... too much for Him to overcome. And this beautiful Word of His calls out that lie in my life. And because of who He is, I can live life fully. && He is powerful in my weaknesses. He is powerful in my life.

God has challenged me to dream... to look into the depths of my heart and understand what I long for. && He has challenged me to ask this question of others. Because it's good for us to dream... and to let Him be very big in our lives.

Jenna wants to change the world. && as she continues on this journey she wants to touch the lives of children who don't have very much. When I asked her what she wanted to do with our camera time she said that she wanted to do a shoot that would inspire people to buy a pair of Toms. And I smiled. Because Jenna is really beautiful.

You can head on over to the TOMS website to order a pair of shoes (click HERE).

"because you may be giving a pair of shoes to a child who has never had shoes before." -Jenna
