Styled Shoot: Chris + Delaney

I love weddings. I really, really do. And I am so excited to see where this next year takes me in the wedding industry, because really I want to shoot weddings. There is something so elegant and genuine and lovely about the moments that pass on a wedding day... and I want to be there to share in those memories and to capture them in a beautiful way.

I recently had the privilege of working with an incredible team of vendors on a styled shoot and it was amazing.

Oh Delaney, you are incredibly gorgeous.

so, so lovely.

love this so much. Chris and Delaney, you are so sweet!

broken computers and flashing blue lights

Isaac and I are graduating college in just a few weeks...holla!! So this Monday, Isaac and I headed down to Drury for his honors colloquium. And let me just take this little moment to tell you that my man is brilliant. My youngest sister leaned over to me near the end and said "I bet this is why he had to study so much." If you want to read the book he wrote about a new way to look at Christian ethics, shoot me an email! I would be happy to send you a copy: jordan@jordanbrittley.com

That night, after dinner with family, I had my laptop on my lap and as I reached over the side of the bed to plug in Isaac's phone, the laptop slipped off my lap and crashed on the floor. Isaac and I both just stared in disbelief and I was hoping, just hoping, that no damage had been done. However, when I started my computer I found flashing blue in the highlights of my screen and fuzzy grey and red lines on the sides. && no matter how hard I tried to cry, the tears just wouldn't come.

because a photographer cannot work on a computer with flashing blue lights. Before going to bed that night, I told Isaac that I knew God could fix my computer if He wanted. And so I asked God to fix my computer, fully expecting it to be free of this horrible problem in the morning. Not the case. Isaac called the mac geniuses and scheduled a meeting for Thursday (tomorrow).

And I am sure you are wondering right about now if I have insurance on my laptop and yes, yes I do! But I did NOT want to spend money on getting something fixed. I want to spend money on dates and gifts and pretty things. Not broken laptop screens.

So this morning I opened my laptop to study for a test and it was pretty evident that the discoloration was spreading through the entire screen. I was incredibly disappointed and I just kept telling God that I knew He could fix this problem if He wanted. I walked away from my computer for a few seconds and when I returned... no flashing lights. No fuzzy grey and red lines inching their way across the screen. Just beautiful color and light. Perfectly displayed.

&& then the tears came. && I thanked God for fixing my computer. && I now I can't stop thanking Him. :)

Featured: Peony & Pear Tree

You may remember me posting about a shoot that Jenna and I did while visiting our grandma in Oklahoma (click HERE to view). We were itching to be creative (even thought about making a short film!) so when we walked into my grandma's closet and found an old dress of hers, we decided to do a one-of-a-kind shoot in the morning. We woke up extra early and accessorized with grandma's jewelry. It was a blast.

&& today, we are featured on Peony & Pear Tree! So head on over to Krys' Facebook page (HERE!) and leave some love for her. She's pretty amazing to work with!
&& Don't forget to read about the shoot on her blog! Click here, here or here :)

Styled Shoot: Austin + Alanna

Styled shoots are quickly becoming one of my favorite things. Perhaps it is because I get to photograph weddings and work with amazing people. It's restful for me: the brainstorming, planning and shooting. Of course, nothing quite measures up to the emotion on a wedding day (the parents and grandparents and friends add so very much) but nevertheless I am loving these styled shoots.

This was my first styled shoot working with a wedding planner and I could write blog post after blog post about why you need a wedding planner on your big day. It takes so much pressure off of you and you are able to focus on doing the things that you love... and then marry your best friend. How is that not better?

These vendors are amazing and I highly recommend each one of them. Enjoy!

Gorgeous, right?!

The owner of Day to Remember, Carol Hodson, supplied us with this stunning mirror and I wanted to use it for everything.

H & H knows beautiful jewelry and picked the dress and tux to match. love them.

love it!

&& this is why I love first looks!

Tara Decker at Reflections did a fantastic job on the hair && Cassandra Harris did the makeup. Seriously, I was amazed.

You are stunning Alanna. Simply stunning.

The Flower Patch made this adorable hairpiece. I was so happy when I saw it that I actually giggled!
